The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced the passing of Michael "Mike" Fletcher, a participant in their Tips From Former Smokers® campaign. Fletcher was known for his dedication to warning others about the serious effects of cigarette smoking.
Fletcher became a spokesperson for the Tips campaign in 2019 and worked to help others understand the risks of smoking and the importance of quitting. His personal story served as a cautionary example to inspire others to quit smoking.
In its statement, the CDC extended condolences to Fletcher's family, friends, and everyone who cared about him. The agency emphasized that his commitment to smoking cessation advocacy will be remembered.
Fletcher’s campaign videos remain available on the CDC’s website as part of their ongoing efforts to increase public awareness of the dangers of smoking.
