At least two civilians were killed and several others injured in an attack on a UNHCR-contracted warehouse in Ukraine, struck by a ballistic missile and set on fire, according to UNHCR spokesperson Bernadette Castel-Hollingsworth. Preliminary reports indicate that approximately 900 pallets of aid items, including blankets and hygiene kits valued at over $1 million, were destroyed. These supplies were intended for evacuees, people in collective and transit sites, and those with damaged homes. The spokesperson expressed condolences to the families of warehouse workers and other civilians killed in recent attacks. UNHCR condemned the damage amid ongoing airstrikes targeting humanitarian workers and aid delivery in Ukraine.

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) forecasts a high likelihood of below-average rainfall in the northern Greater Horn of Africa during the upcoming rainy season from June through September. This outlook, from the IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre (ICPAC), signals risk for cultivation, water availability, livestock, hydropower, food security, and public health. The June-September rains typically provide over half the annual rainfall for the northern and western region, and over 80 percent for most of Sudan. Drier conditions are projected for South Sudan, Uganda, Ethiopia, Djibouti, much of Eritrea, Sudan, and western and coastal Kenya, with some areas facing a 60 to 80 percent likelihood of below-normal rainfall. Isolated areas in northern Sudan, southeastern Ethiopia, and parts of Somalia may see increased rainfall.
