Carine N'koué was appointed general secretary of the UEFA Foundation for Children in June, following more than ten years of humanitarian work supporting vulnerable children and communities worldwide. Her experience includes direct involvement with UEFA and the Asian Football Development Programme during the Syrian refugee crisis in Jordan in 2013, continuing under the foundation when it was established in 2015. She spent over four years in refugee camps such as Za'atari and Azraq, focusing on integrating refugee children and fostering social cohesion through football and other sports.
N'koué stated that being present in the camps and interacting daily with children and families shaped her perspective and improved the foundation's effectiveness. She emphasized that beneficiaries must be regarded as individuals with dreams and challenges, highlighting the importance of visiting projects and communicating directly with those involved to better understand and address their needs.
Now leading the UEFA Foundation as it approaches its tenth anniversary, N'koué described the role as a significant responsibility. The foundation aims to further develop its activities and enhance its legitimacy by engaging members, federations, clubs, players, and sponsors more extensively in social responsibility projects.
