The 2024 World Aquatics U18 Men's Water Polo Championships will bring together 20 qualified nations divided into two divisions, set to compete at the Rio Maior Sports Centre in Portugal. The eight top-ranked teams in the World Aquatics Men's U18 Water Polo Rankings are split between Groups A and B in Division 1, while the remaining 12 nations are placed in Division 2 across Groups C to F.
Group A is one of the most competitive stages in the tournament's history, featuring defending champions Hungary alongside Croatia, Montenegro, and Serbia—all previous top-eight finishers and medalists from the last edition in Buenos Aires. Hungary won gold, Serbia silver, and Montenegro bronze in 2024, ensuring all three medalists will face each other early in the competition.
Group B includes the remaining Division 1 nations: China, Spain, the United States, and Italy, each aiming to contend for medals during the final weekend.
Host nation Portugal will compete in Group F with Argentina and Canada. This event marks the first time Portugal will host the U18 Men's Championship, with local fans expected to support their team at the Rio Maior Sports Centre.
Division 2 groups also include Colombia, Singapore, and New Zealand in Group C; Türkiye, Hong Kong China, and Brazil in Group D; and South Africa, Greece, and Australia in Group E.
The Rio Maior Sports Centre, recognized with the IOC/IAKS Award as a leading sports complex, features two indoor pools and will host the championship’s ten days of competition from June 27 to July 4.
Additional details, including the full competition schedule, will be announced on the World Aquatics website in due course.
