UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin has been elected chairman of the UEFA Foundation for Children, following a board meeting at its Nyon headquarters. He succeeds José Manuel Durão Barroso, who led the charity since 2015. Barroso expressed hope that the foundation will continue supporting underprivileged children worldwide. The assembly also thanked Barroso and Sándor Csányi for their contributions, with Csányi stepping down as a board member. Čeferin emphasized the opportunity to work closely with the foundation, which aids children living in challenging conditions globally.

Alongside Čeferin, two new members joined the board of trustees: Kairat Boranbayev, president of Kazakhstan's National Paralympic Committee, and Kevin Lamour, director of UEFA’s President and Executive Office. Boranbayev noted children are humanity’s most important resource and highlighted the responsibility to support them today.

The foundation will invest in 28 additional projects, raising the total to 107 projects worldwide and expanding its reach to all six continents. Čeferin highlighted the importance of the foundation’s global scope in providing disadvantaged children access to education and sport, stating the expansion will help reach even more children around the world.
