The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has confirmed that 18 U.S. passengers repatriated from the M/V Hondius cruise ship will remain at the Nebraska Quarantine Facility through May 31, 2026, completing their 21-day monitoring period.

Since disembarkation, three additional hantavirus cases have been reported among the passengers, with one case each in France, Spain, and Canada.

The CDC issued quarantine orders for two passengers repatriated to Nebraska, applying measures under the Public Health Service Act and its regulations to protect community health.

According to the CDC, quarantine is a federally authorized public health tool that can also be used at state and county levels. The agency continues working with state and local health officials to determine appropriate measures for the health and safety of all involved passengers.
