Jessica Meir, a NASA astronaut since 2013, is also a scientist specializing in animal physiology in extreme environments. She launched aboard NASA’s SpaceX Crew-12 mission to the International Space Station (ISS) in February 2026 with fellow astronauts and cosmonauts.

Meir served as a flight engineer during ISS Expeditions 61 and 62 and participated in historic all-female spacewalks. In September 2025, a portrait of her taken at NASA’s Johnson Space Center was named a finalist for NASA’s 2025 Photographer of the Year.
