Matt Anderson was sworn in as NASA’s 16th deputy administrator by NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman at a ceremony at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in Washington.

As deputy administrator, Anderson will support NASA’s efforts to implement national space policy and advance missions in exploration, science, and aeronautics. Administrator Isaacman cited Anderson’s operational leadership and technical expertise as essential for strengthening America’s leadership in space.

Anderson said he is honored to support NASA's workforce and emphasized disciplined execution, technical excellence, and accountability in fulfilling NASA’s mission of strategic, scientific, and economic importance.

President Donald J. Trump nominated Anderson on January 13, and the U.S. Senate confirmed him on May 18, 2026. NASA officials highlighted Anderson’s extensive experience in complex operational environments and expressed confidence in his contributions to the agency’s future missions.
